Legends of Appleton

In the fall of 2017, St. Lawrence University launched Legends of Appleton, a new recognition program to celebrate the storied history and tradition of our ice hockey programs. More specifically, St. Lawrence will celebrate the legends who helped “build” the hockey tradition at St. Lawrence through their play, commitment, and impact on the programs and on the hockey world. As alumni of one of the most storied Division I Ice Hockey programs in the nation, those honored with this award represent the most elite and well-respected hockey alumni our program has produced. The honorees’ impact on St. Lawrence University, the game of hockey, and the programs is taken into consideration by the selection committee. The selections are made by a representative group of the University, Athletic administration, and St. Lawrence Hockey Alumni Association Executive Board.

The celebration honoring these individuals who began their careers in a small, but well-respected, ice rink known as Appleton Arena is a testament to the University’s commitment to Saints Hockey. This occasion signals the University’s commitment to renew and sustain the core essence Saints hockey.

This year, we will recognize Paul Flanagan 80 and Mike McShane during a series of events, including an on-ice ceremony, on Friday, Dec. 7th, 2018.

Former hockey alumni, family members, and friends of the program will be invited back to Appleton to recognize the recipients of this prestigious award.
